Technicians want longer working time with their investment. The answer for them is to use colder water or liquid solution. This may not be the way too go!  The investment is designed so that it reaches an exothermic reaction with in a specified period of time. If the exothermic reaction is retarded, you will end up with a weak investment. This weak investment may cause cracking, fins on castings, explosions and other problems with the invested rings in the furnace.

Most investment liquids are designed to be used at room temperature around 72°F to 76°F.
